The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Anger About Size Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
